Yao is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Culture and Society of Africa at the University of Bayreuth. His master’s thesis focusses on political participation in Mauritius with an emphasis on the role of Mauritian radio stations in promoting citizen participation. He holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in foreign languages (University of Lomé, Togo) and the another in international studies (University of Trento, Italy). His areas of interest include African development issues, good governance (democracy) and peacekeeping, regional integration in Africa as well as anti-racist and postcolonial debates. Yao is member of the Executive Committee of AP.
